KFPD is a combination department consisting of both volunteers and paid staff. KFPD covers 325 square miles and is located in Central Elbert County. In 2024 KFPD had 580 calls for service. The district provides both fire suppression, technical rescue, HAZMAT response, and Advanced Life support to the Kiowa Fire District as well as to surrounding communities.

                Kiowa fire is currently seeking qualified applicants for the following positions:
- Full-Time Firefighter/Paramedic - Fire training can be provided- Qualified full-time applicants can expect a pay range of between $60,000 and $62,000 per year on a 48/96 schedule.
- New hires will also receive a uniform allowance upon conditional job offer and acceptance.
- FPPA pension and health insurance benefit package included.
 
- Part-Time Paramedics- Qualified part-time applicants can expect a pay of $24/per hour.
- Typical shift hours are 0700-1900 and 1900-0700, however these hours can be flexible.
- This role is open to both single-certified (Paramedic) and dual-certified (Paramedic/firefighter).
 
Testing and interviews will be scheduled on a date to be determined.
